Bhubaneswar: Coronavirus has continued to wreak havoc in India as the country has reported record 357 deaths and nearly 10 thousand new cases on Wednesday taking the total number of cases to 2.86 lakh. including 8102 fatalities.

As per the latest data released by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, India’s total cases rose to 286579 by Thursday morning. The total number includes 137448 active cases and 8102 deaths while 141029 people have been recovered from the viral infection.

With record 5824 recoveries India’s recovery rate has improved to 49 per cent while 357 patients died in the last 24 hours and the death rate has remained unchanged at 2.8 per cent.

Maharastra has remained the worst affected state in the country as its total number of confirmed cases has climbed to 94 thousand including 46986 active cases and 3438 deaths. Maharastra is followed by Tamilnadu and Delhi with 36841 and 32810 confirmed cases.

1.5 lakh samples tested on Wednesday

As many as 1,51,808 samples were tested in the last 24 hours out of which nearly 10 thousand samples were found to be positive. With this, the country has tested total 52,13,140 samples till the 11th of June with a positivity rate of 5.37 per cent, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.

India lifts export ban on Hydroxychloroquine

The government of India on Wednesday has lifted the ban on the export of anti-malarial drug Hydroxychloroquine API as well as formulations.

“Department of Pharmaceuticals has approved the lifting of ban on Export of Hydroxychloroquine API as well as formulations. Manufacturers except for SEZ/EOU Units have to supply 20% production in the domestic market. DGFT has been asked to issue a formal notification in this regard” twitted Union Minister for Chemical and Fertilisers V.Sadanand Gauda.
