India : More than 5 Thousand people recovered so far, total cases climb to 24,506

New Delhi: India’s total number of COVID19 cases has crossed the 24 thousand mark on Saturday.

According to the data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of cases has increased to 24,506 which include 18668 active cases and 775 deaths. However, as many as 5062 patients have been recovered so far from the deadly virus.

While India’s recovery rate has improved to 20.65%, the death rate has remained at 3%. India has tested more than 579957 samples as on 9 am 25th April, the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) said.

Maharashtra has remained the worst affected state followed by Gujarat and Delhi. The total number of cases in Maharastra has increased to 5676 including 301 deaths. While Gujarat has reported 2423 cases and Delhi has reported 1604 cases so far.

7 countries have more than 1 lakh cases

Worldwide, the total number of cases has crossed the 28 lakh mark including more than 8 lakh recoveries and little less than 2 lakh deaths. The United States has remained the worst affected country with 9.25 lakh cases. While the death toll has touched 52193, the number of cured persons has increased to 1.10 lakh.

Apart from the United States, 6 other countries have more than 1 lakh cases. These countries are Spain, Italy, France, Germany, UK and Turkey. These 7 countries now comprise 63% of the world’s total cases.
