India daily cases declines to 2.63 lakh, but death toll remains a big concern

Bhubaneswar: India’s COVID-19 graph has continued its downward journey as the country reported 2.63 lakh fresh cases and more than 4000 deaths in the last 24-hours.

According to the daily data released by the union health ministry, India has reported 263533 new cases in the last 24-hours. With this, the country’s COVID-19 count has increased to 25228996 which include 353765 active cases.

However, rising number of deaths has remained a big concern for the government as the daily death number has further increased to 4329. With this, India’s overall COVID-19 death toll has increased to 278719.

Meanwhile, the gap between daily fresh cases and number of recoveries has further widened as a record number of 422436 patients have recovered in the last 24-hours.

Meanwhile, India’s test positivity rate has eased to 14 per cent from 17.8 per cent a day earlier as the country tested 1869223 samples on 17th May as against 1573515 samples on 16th May.
