Global COVID19 cases near 2 lakh mark with 8400 deaths

Biznextindia : While the COVID19 infection cases are nearing the 2 lakh mark with more than 8400 deaths, the US President Donald Trump has termed it a World War like situation. He, however, expressed confidence that Mankind will win in this War.

“The World is at War with a hidden enemy, but we will win” he twitted.

Experts are worried that the world is running towards a catastrophe and mankind is facing one of modern history’s gravest challenges.

“The coronavirus emergency is fast transforming into one of the gravest political and societal challenges of the modern age” a CNN report said.

According to a report by Imperial College, London has predicted 22 lakh COVID19 deaths in the US and 5 lakh in the UK.

“The world is facing the most serious public health crisis in generations” said Professor Neil Ferguson, head of the MRC GIDA team and director of the Abdul Latif  Jameel Institute for Disease and Emergency Analytics (J-IDEA).

As per latest reports, Global COVID19 cases have surged to 1.98 lakh with 8400 deaths. Italy’s death toll has crossed 2500 while in US the death toll has crossed 100.

Meanwhile, India’s total positive cases has surged to 148 with 3 deaths.

“A total of 12351 samples from 11461 individuals have been tested for SARS-CoV2 as on 18th March 2020 10 AM IST. A total of 145 positives have been confirmed positive among suspected cases and contacts of known positives” the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said in its daily bulletin.
