New Delhi: The government of India is working with both World Health Organization (WHO) and Bharat Biotech to list indigenously prepared COVID-19 vaccine with WHO at the earliest, a top government official said.

“ We are working with both Bharat Biotech and WHO to make it happen. WHO had asked the company for data, analysis and other information. Currently data sharing is going on and we are hopeful that very soon it’ll happen” said Dr. V.K.Paul, member NITI Ayog and chair of National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration for COVID-19 (NEGVAC )said.

Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech has already submitted its application to WHO for Emergency Use Listing (EUL) on 19th April and a pre-submission meeting will happen later this month.

Last month an inter-ministerial group led by Foreign Secretary Harsh Shringla met with Bharat Biotech representatives in Delhi to take stock of the company’s application process with WHO.
