DD Retro is now available in Private DTH platforms

Bhubaneswar: DD Retro, the latest offering from India’s public broadcaster Doordarshan is now available in three DTH platforms- DD Free Dish, Airtel DTH and Sun Direct.

While, DD Retro is available at channel number 003 on DD Free Dish, it is available at Channel number 154 on Airtel DTH and Channel 350 on Sun direct.

Though DD Retro is currently not available on other leading DTH platforms like Videocon D2H, Tata Sky and Dish TV, according to sources these operators are in touch with ‘Prasar Bharati’ to add this channel on their respective platforms.

 

The channel is also available through Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) mode in 19 cities including Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Aurangabad, Cuttack, Raipur, Kolkata, Indore, Ranchi, Bhopal, Ahmedabad, Patna, Gauhati, Lucknow, Jalandhar, Hyderabad, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram.

Riding high on the success of old classic serials like Ramayan, Mahabharat, Chanakya, Shaktiman on DD National and DD Bharti, Prasar Bharti last week launched DD Retro. This new channel is currently airing classics like Mahabharat, Upanishad Ganga, Chanakya, Byomkesh Bakshi and Shankat Mochan Hanuman.

The channel is also planning to add several other classic old serials in its Programme list.

The Return of ‘Ramayan’ has catapulted DD National as the No.1 channel in the General Entertainment category (GEC) and has made the Ramanand Sagar directed serial as the most-watched TV series of all time. The return of B.R. Chopra’s Mahabharat has also boosted DD Bharti’s TRP for the last couple of weeks.

Both ‘Ramayan’ and ‘Mahabharat’ were originally broadcasted on Doordarshan in the 80s.
