Coronavirus death toll rises to 1523 in China, US to evacuate its citizens from Diamond Princess
Bhubaneswar : With 2641 new confirmed Coronavirus infection cases, the total confirmed cases has increased to 66,491 till Friday night, the Chinese National Health Commission said on Saturday Morning.
Out of the new confirmed 2641 cases, Hubei province, the disease epicenter has reported 2420 cases.
On Friday as many as 143 persons died taking the total toll to 1523 in the Chinese mainland. The number of confirmed cases is rising alarmingly with each passing day. On Friday alone, another 2277 new suspected cases and 849 suspects with severe symptoms have been detected, the Commission said.
The Chinese government has traced 5,13,183 persons who had close contacts with the patients and 169,039 people are under strict medical surveillance. On the other hand, as many as 8096 persons have fully recovered and are out of Hospital.
Meanwhile, the United States of America is preparing to evacuate 380 Americal citizens onboard in the Cruise Ship Diamond Princess quarantined at Yokohama, Japan, CNN has reported on Saturday citing US officials.
There are about 3400 passengers in the ship including 138 Indians. Out of this, the number of confirmed cases in the ship has risen steadily to 2108 including 3 Indians.
The Indian Embassy in Tokyo said on Friday that it is keeping an eye on the 3 Indians infected with Coronavirus. The health conditions of these patients are stable and improving. The Embassy is also in touch with the Japanese authorities to ensure the well being of the other Indians onboard Diamond Princess cruise ship.
