Update 12 Noon : The counting of votes for the assembly elections in the North Eastern states of Tripura, Nagaland, and Meghalaya has continued. As per the current trendd, the BJP is leading in Tripura and Nagaland, while in Meghalaya the NPP is leading.
As on 12 noon, BJP alliance is leading in 33 seats in Tripura while the left + Congress alliance is leading in 14 seats.
Meanwhile, in Nagaland, early trends suggest, the BJP alliance is heading towards as landslide victory. As on 12 noon, BJP alliance is leading in 37 seats, Congress in 3 seats and the NPF is leading in 2 seats.
On the other hand, in Meghalaya the NPP is leading in 27 seats, TMC in 7 seats.
Update 10.30 am : The counting of votes for the assembly elections in the North Eastern states of Tripura, Nagaland, and Meghalaya commenced at 8 AM, with postal ballots being counted first. As per the early trends, BJP is leading in all three states. While the BJP alliance is leading in Tripura and Nagaland, NPP is ahead in Meghalaya.
As on 10.30am, BJP alliance is leading in 27 seats in Tripura while the left + Congress alliance is leading in 20 seats. While, in the initial round the BJP was leading in more than 35 seats, but in the subsequent rounds the gap between BJP and Left + Congess is narrowing.
Meanwhile, in Nagaland, early trends suggest, the BJP alliance is heading towards as landslide victory. As on 10.30 am, BJP alliance is leading in 42 seats and the NPF is leading in 4 seats.
On the other hand, in Meghalaya the NPP is leading in 24 seats, TMC in 7 seats and BJP in 6 seats. The BJP and NPP ran the government in Meghalaya for the last five years as a part of the NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) but the two parties fought the assembly elections on their own.
