83% of people died in Corona had other diseases : Health Ministry

New Delhi: India’s fatalities related to Coronavirus has increased to 480 by Saturday afternoon which is 3.3% of the total cases.

According to an analysis by the Health Ministry, out of the total 480 deaths, 83% have co-morbid conditions. This means that most of the people died have several other health complications.

“If an analysis is done on the basis of co-morbid conditions, then you will find that 83% cases had co-morbidity,” said Lav Aggarwal, Joint Secretary, Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

“… An age-wise analysis will tell you that 14.4% of death has been reported in the age group of 0-45 yrs. Between 45-60 yrs it is 10.3%, between 60-75 yrs it is 33.1% & for 75 yrs and above it is 42.2%” he added.

He also informed that no fresh cases have been reported in 47 districts across 23 states. In another 45 districts, no fresh cases have been reported in the last 14 days.

It may be noted that India’s total number of cases has increased to 14378. As many as 991 new cases and 43 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours.
