Mumbai: Ajay Devgun, Saif Ali khan starrer, ‘Tanhaji : The Unsung warrior’ has an excellent weekend with a collection of around Rs. 60 crore. Chhapaak, on the other hand, faced poor response at the box office with a collection of Rs. 18 Crore in three days.

The movie, which opened with a first day collection of Rs. 15 Crore, witnessed tremendous growth on Saturday and Sunday collecting Rs. 20.57 Crore and Rs. 25 Crore respectively.

“Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior has recorded excellent collections on Sunday with 25-26 crore nett as per early estimates which will mean a 60 crore nett weekend for the film. The growth is superb on Sunday with collections going up 30%. It makes it even better that the competition and holdover releases have not grown much on Sunday. The film has scored very good numbers in Mumbai circuit and good numbers in CP Berar and Nizam / Andhra. The other circuits have not done as well but they can make ground over the weekdays as the growth has been excellent on Saturday and Sunday. There was also the benefit of minor holidays in some circuit” said Bollywood business portal boxofficeindia.com.

Compared to ‘Tanhaji : the unsung warrior’, Deepika Padukone starrer Chhapaak has witnessed poor response at the box-office.  The movie based on the struggle of Acid attack victims, has collected around Rs. 7-8 Crore on Sunday, taking its total 3 day collection to 18-19 crore.

“#Chhapaak sees day-wise growth, but the weekend trending is good, not great… Collects well at premium multiplexes of urban sectors mainly… Needs to trend well on weekdays for a healthy Week 1 total… Fri 4.77 cr, Sat 6.90 cr, Sun 7.35 cr. Total: ₹ 19.02 cr. #India biz” said Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
