Bhubaneswar: Akshay Kumar, Diljit Dosanjh, Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Romcom ‘Good Newwz’ has a dream weekend collecting around Rs. 64-65 Crore in the domestic box-office.
Meanwhile, Bollywood trade expert Taran Adarsh has twitted that the 1st-weekend collection is around Rs. 65.99 Crore.
According to a report by boxofficeindia.com, the movie which collected Rs.17.56 Crore on its opening day, added Rs. 21.78 Crore and Rs. 25-26 Crore to take the weekend collection to Rs. 64-65 Crore. This is the 2nd highest weekend of Akshay Kumar, after ‘Mission Mangal’ which had fetched Rs. 67 Crore nett in its first weekend.
Riding high on positive reviews from the critics and good word of mouth ‘Good Newwz’ is expected to continue its winning run at the box-office. The Collections are likely to drop slightly on Monday and Tuesday due to working day on Monday and year-end celebrations on Tuesday, the 31st Dec. However, the collections may pick up from Wednesday. The collection is likely to cross Rs.100 Crore mark in its first week itself.

The movie has a fantastic run at the Delhi NCR and Punjab circuit with a collection of Rs. 8.5 Crore. However, the collections are low at the East and south India territories.
“Good Newwz is fantastic in East Punjab and Delhi / NCR with the former looking at a weekend of around 8.50 crore nett and even Delhi / UP crossing 15 crore nett despite UP being on the lower side partly due to the protesting and partly due to the type of film it is. The lower performance has come in Nizam / Andhra, East India and Gujarat / Saurashtra though the latter had good growth on Sunday” said a report by Boxofficeindia.
