Odisha to put 36 mining blocks on auction in the next 2 months: Minister

Bhubaneswar (Biznext Bureau ) : The Odisha government today said that it will put as many as 36 mining blocks on auction in the next 2 months.  Apart from this, the government has already initiated auction process of 4 mines.

“We’ll auction total 40 mining blocks in the next couple of months. While, the auction process of 4 mines has already been initiated, another 36 mining blocks will be auctioned in the next 2 months” said Odisha Steel and Mines Minister Prafulla Mallick today at the Odisha Secretariat.

He further said that the state’s mining revenue in 2018-19 has increased by 70.92% to Rs. 10,479 Crore.

On the other hand, the Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has set a target to produce 20 million tonnes of Iron Ore in the coming years. Last fiscal (FY19) OMC has produced about 16 million tonnes of Iron Ore, he said.
