Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the Utkarsh Odisha Conclave, the State Government signed eight Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Singapore-based organizations to collaborate in various fields, including industrial infrastructure, green hydrogen, petrochemicals, FinTech, and advanced skilling.

The MoUs were formalized in the presence of Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and other state ministers and senior officials at the World Skill Centre.

Chief Minister Majhi shared on social media that these agreements mark a significant milestone in strengthening the partnership between Singapore and Odisha. He highlighted key discussions and presentations during the event, focusing on areas such as skill development, industrial parks, renewable energy, semiconductors, IT, culture, and connectivity.

“This collaboration underscores our commitment to innovation and technical excellence,” Majhi said. “President Shanmugaratnam visited our cutting-edge labs, interacted with students and instructors, and appreciated Odisha’s efforts to drive growth and development. Together, we aim to create a brighter future for our youth and industries.”

The first MoU was signed between the Skill Development and Technical Education (SD&TE) Department and ITE Education Services (ITEES), Singapore, to enhance the state’s skill development ecosystem. A second agreement with ITEES focuses on technical and vocational education and training (TVET), aiming to support the semiconductor industry in Odisha through specialized skilling programs.

Another MoU was signed by NTU Singapore, GRIDCO Limited, and IIT Bhubaneswar to advance research and development in sustainable energy technologies. Additionally, Sembcorp Green Hydrogen India Private Limited (SGHIPL) partnered with the Industrial Promotion & Investment Corporation of Odisha Limited (IPICOL) to explore the establishment of a green hydrogen production facility.

A fifth agreement between Sembcorp Development (SCD) and Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) will assess the feasibility of developing an industrial park in Odisha.

Further partnerships included a pact between Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN) and the Odisha government to establish an Insurtech Hub Global Capabilities Centre. Surbana Jurong, another Singapore-based organization, also teamed up with IDCO to provide consultancy services for developmental projects in Odisha.

These agreements collectively aim to position Odisha as a hub of innovation, sustainability, and industrial excellence.
