Serajuddin retains Balda Iron Ore block in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Odisha based miner Sirajuddin & Co has managed to retain the Balda Iron Ore mines in the recently held mining auction upstaging companies like JSPL, JSW, Vedanta, Adani, Arcelor Mittal and TS Alloys( owned by Tata Steel). The miner has won the bidding after committing to pay 118.05% of the Sale value of the Iron Ore to the state government.
Earlier, steel major JSW had bagged Nuagaon and Narayanpashi Iron Ore blocks and Arcelor Mittal bagged the Thakurani iron ore block.
The Balda block in Barbil Tahasil of Keonjhar District is spread over 335.5 hectres which include 234 hectres of mineralised area and 101 hectres of non-mineralised area and it has estimated iron ore reserve of 210 million tonnes. The Balda block has G1 (detailed exploration) and G2 (generalised exploration) status as per the United Nations Framework Classification (UNFC).
