Rungta Mines gets Government nod to expand steelmaking capacity to 2.85 MTPA in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Monday cleared the Rs.7836 Crore capacity expansion plan of Rungta Mines Limited (RML)’s Integrated Steel Plant in Dhenkanal District.

The proposal was cleared by the High Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) of the Odisha government headed by the Chief Secretary.

The company has proposed to expand the capacity of the steel plant from 0.9 MTPA (Million Tonnes per Annum) to 2.85 MTPA, CPP capacity to 385 MW at an investment of Rs. 7836 Crore. Apart from this, RML has also proposed to set up a 1.69 MTPA cement plant in two phases.  These project will create additional employment opportunities for 4900 people.

The HLCA also cleared the proposal of Dhunseri Ventures limited for setting up an 60,000 MT Anhydride manufacturing unit at Paradip. The company plans to invest Rs. 1013 in the project which would create employment opportunity for 350 people.

Apart from the HLCA, Odisha government’s state Level Single Window clearance authority has cleared four planned projects including the proposal of M/s Kashvi International (P) ltd to set up a 1.2MTPA Iron ore beneficiation Plant in addition to its 0.6 MTPA pelletisation plant. The company has plans to invest Rs. 55.23 crore in the project.

SLSWCA also cleared the proposals of M/s Niren Kumar Anand for setting up a Footwear manufacturing unit, Purosteel India’s Tube & Pipes PVD coating unit, Odisha Carriers and Trade’s Logistics Park.  Odisha Carriers and Trade will invest Rs.80 crore in the project which will create employment opportunities for 405 people.
