Khatau Narbheram retains Roida-II Iron Ore block in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Khatau Narbheram & Co has retained its Roida-II Iron Ore mines in Keonjhar district of Odisha. The company retained the mines after committing to pay 90.90 percent premium of the Iron Ore to be produced.
This is the 8th mines in the list of total 19 mines that are being auctioned by the Odisha government. Out of these 8 mines JSW has bagged 4 mines, Arcelor-Mittal, Shyam Ore and Sirajuddin have got one block each.
This block is among the 5 Iron Ore blocks that have been reserved for Specified End Use for the production/ manufacture of sponge iron and/or pig iron and/or steel and/or pellets. The other 4 blocks are Jaribahal Iron Ore Block, Thakurani Iron Ore Block, Ganua Iron Ore Block, Narayanposhi Iron Ore & Manganese Block.
While the Thakurani block has been secured by Arcelor Mittal, Ganua and Narayanposhi block have been bagged by JSW.
The Roida-II iron ore block in Barbil Tahasil of Keonjhar District is spread over 74.8 hectres which include 45 hectres of the mineralised area and 29 hectres of non-mineralised area and it has estimated iron ore reserve of 27 million tonnes. The Iron Ore block has G1 (detailed exploration) and G2 (generalised exploration) status as per the United Nations Framework Classification (UNFC).
