JSW crude steel output up 2% in the Oct-Dec quarter

Biznextindia : Sajjan Jindal controlled  JSW steel has reported 2 per cent growth in crude steel production at 4.08 million tonnes (MT) in the 3rd Quarter FY21 (October-December 2020) as against 4.02 MT in the Q3 of FY20.

However, on sequential basis JSW has reported 6 per cent growth in crude steel production as against 3.85 MT in the 2nd quarter ( July-August 2020).

The production of Rolled products (Flat) grew by 4 per cent (YoY) to 2.98 MT from 2.86 MT in Q3 FY20. The company has reported 4 per cent growth in Long Rolled products output to 0.93 MT as compared to .89 MT in Q3 FY20. However, the production of long rolled products grew by 22 per cent as compared to the previous quarter’s output of 0.77 MT.

While the flat steel products are used in the white goods industry, the long products are used mostly in the construction sector.

Meanwhile, in the 9 month period (April-December 2020) JSW’s steel production has declined by 10 per cent to 10.89 MT (from 12.09 MT in Apr-Dec 2019) owing to production disruptions caused by the lockdown during the initial months of the current financial year. The production of long products dipped by 22 per cent to 2.16 MT due to weak demand in the construction sector. Flat products output has also dipped by 7 per cent to 7.88 MT during the April-December 9 months period.
