‘Fundamentally none of our business’ : JD Vance on India-Pak tension

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance has stated that the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan is “fundamentally none of our business,” though both he and President Donald Trump are urging the two nations to de-escalate tensions.

“In situations like this, all we can really do is encourage both sides to step back from the brink,” Vance said in an interview with Fox News. “We’re not going to insert ourselves into a conflict that doesn’t directly involve us or affect our national interests. America can’t force India to lay down its arms, nor can we compel Pakistan to do the same. Our role is to support a diplomatic path forward.”

Vance, known for advocating U.S. non-intervention in foreign conflicts, emphasized the administration’s hope that the situation does not escalate further.

“Our hope and expectation is that this doesn’t spiral into a larger regional war or, God forbid, a nuclear exchange,” he said. “At this moment, we don’t believe that will happen.”

His comments came amid heightened tensions following a failed Pakistani attempt to target military establishments in Jammu, Pathankot, and other cities.
