New Delhi: Maruti-Suzuki, India’s largest seller of passenger vehicles has hiked prices of its vehicles from Saturday.  The weighted average price increase in ex-showroom Prices (Delhi) across Models is 1.7%.

“In continuation to our earlier communication dated 02nd December 2021, the Company today announced price change across models owing to increase in various input costs. The weighted average price increase in ex-showroom Prices (Delhi) across Models is 1.7%. The new prices are effective from today i.e. 15th January, 2022” MSIL said in a regulatory filing.

Last December, the company had intimated about this price hike. The company had attributed the planned price hike to rise in various input costs.

“Over the past year, the cost of company’s vehicles continue to be adversely impacted due to increase in various input costs. Therefore, it has become imperative for the Company to pass on some impact of the above additional costs to customers through a price hike. The price rise has been planned in January, 2022. The increase shall vary for different models” the company said in December.

In September 2021, the company had also hiked prices of selected models due to rise in input costs. Two days back, the company has hiked the price of ECCO (non-cargo variants) by Rs.8000 owing to introduction of Passenger Airbag.
