Odisha receives 123 bids for 11 mining blocks ; JSW, Adani, JSPL among the 38 bidders

Bhubaneswar: JSW, Adani Group, JSPL, Rungta, Arcelor-Mittal are among the 38 companies that have submitted bids for the 11 mining blocks being auctioned by the Odisha government. The state government has received as many as 123 bids for the 11 mining blocks, Odisha Director of Mines Devidutt Biswal said.

Last month, Odisha Steel and Mines department had issued notice inviting Tender (NIT) for the 11 mining blocks which include 7 Iron Ore mines, 2 Iron Ore & Manganese mines, 1 Iron Ore & Dolomite block and 1 Bauxite block.

The Iron Ore blocks are Nadidih, Pureibahal, Chandiposhi, Jumka Patriposhi Pahar, Dholtapathar, Netrabandha Pahar (West) and Gandhalpada Iron Ore block. Except Nadidih Iron Ore block (Expired Lease) , all other iron ore blocks are virgin blocks. The 2 Iron Ore & Manganese blocks are Nadidih and Teherai block and lease period of both the block have been expired. Similarly virgin Karlapat Bauxite block and Kasia Iron Ore & Dolomite (lease expired) blocks are being auctioned.

The Karlapat Bauxite mines has received bids from companies like Vedanta, Anrak Aluminium, JSPL, Jagannath Universal and Maithri Infra. This is for the first time a Bauxite mine has been put by the state government for auction. 

The auction process is expected to complete by October after which the government is readying another 5 mining blocks for auction.
