India’s Positivity rate eases to 11% as cases dip to 2.4 lakh, death toll nears 3 lakh mark

New Delhi: Continuing its downward trend, India’s daily COVID-19 cases further dipped to 2.40 lakh in the last 24-hours. Daily death numbers also dropped below 4000 mark.

According to the Health Ministry data, India has reported 2,40,842 fresh cases and 3741 deaths in the last 24 hours (from 8 am Saturday to 89 am Sunday). Number of recoveries also continued to outnumber fresh cases as 3,55,102 patients have recovered during the 24-hours.

With this, India’s Covid-19 tally has increased to 2.65 crore which includes 28,05,399 active cases. The number of active cases continues to decline by over one lakh per day due to more number of recoveries than fresh cases.

Meanwhile, with 3741 deaths, India’s death toll due to the pandemic has inched closer to the 3 lakh mark.

Meanwhile, as many as 21,23,782 samples were tested on Saturday taking the total number of tests so far to 32,86,07,937. With this India’s Test Positivity Rate (TPR) has further declined to 11.3 per cent, which was above 20 per cent a month ago.
