Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s on Wednesday reported record 1078 new cases taking its COVID-19 tally closer to the 20 thousand mark. This is the highest ever one-day surge in cases reported by the state.
According to the data released by the state Information and public relations department (I&PR) out of the 1078 new cases, 721 are from quarantine centres while the rest 357 are local contacts.

The situation in Ganjam has remained alarming as the district has added highest 371 new positive cases taking the count to 6362. Khurdha district has reported 121 new cases followed by Raygada 96 cases.
The state has reported 5 fatalities in the last 24 hours including 4 men and one woman.
Meanwhile, as many as 400 persons have recovered taking the total number of recoveries to 13309 while the active cases surge to 6386.
