Bhubaneswar: Despite two-months of nation-wide lockdown, one of the largest such measures in the world, India’s COVID-19 tally crossed the 1 lakh mark on Tuesday, 110 days after reporting its first case.
As per the latest data released by the Health Ministry, India’s total cases rose to 101139 by Tuesday morning. The total number includes 58802 active cases and 3163 deaths while 39173 people have been recovered from the deadly infection and one person has migrated.
The country has reported 4970 fresh cases in the 24 hours. However, the last 24 hours saw 2350 people have recovered while 134 people have died. With this India’s recovery rate has risen to 38.7 per cent and the death rate has dropped marginally to 3.1 per cent.
According to the latest figures released by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the country has so far conducted over 24 lakh tests with a positivity rate of 4.1 per cent.

With over 1 lakh confirmed cases, India is now the 11th worst affected country after Iran which has 1.22 lakh cases.
The United States with over 15 lakh confirmed cases and 90353 deaths, has remained the worst affected country followed by Russia with 2.90 lakh confirmed cases and 2722 deaths. Brazil and the United Kingdom are at the 3rd and 4th worst affected country with 2.55 lakh and 2.47 lakh confirmed cases respectively.
